Or ask for a flu vaccination when you attend for another appointment - we may be able to do this while you are already here to save an extra journey!
Springfield Practice runs an efficient, safe and timely repeat prescription service. We have two repeat prescription clerks who work closely with the partners and follow careful procedures to ensure safe prescribing for our patients.
You will be asked to attend for regular medication reviews which may include an appointment with the doctor, a BP check with the Health Care Assistant, or to attend one of our specialist clinics such as diabetes or asthma.

HOW TO ORDER REPEAT MEDICATION
IN THE SURGERY
You can order your repeat medication by using the repeat slip issued with your prescription. Tick clearly THE ITEMS THAT YOU REQUIRE and then pop the request slip into the letterbox in the wall at the side of the reception desk. If you have lost your slip please ask the receptionist to help you as we only accept prescription requests in writing.
We require 48 hours notice to process a repeat prescription for a number of reasons. T o give time for checks to be made, your repeat therapy screens updated, reviews to be recorded onto your records, letters sent for reviews, blood tests arranged where necessary and for the GP to sign the prescription. Additionally whilst the prescription clerks are processing the repeats they may be called away to speak to a patient or a chemist or take telephone calls from hospitals regarding patient medication. We can process up to 100 repeat prescriptions a day, many of which have several items.
If you do not give 48 hours notice it creates difficulties for yourself, our staff and the GPs, so please ensure that you don't run out of your medication!!
We are happy to post your prescription. Simply supply a SAE with your request.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR MEDICATION RUNS OUT
We normally require two full working days for us to issue your repeat medication. You may need to allow a bit longer if you require the chemist to collect, prepare and deliver your medication.
Generally, we receive repeat requests in time and the process runs smoothly.
We know that on rare occasions you may overlook ordering your repeat medication.
If you find yourself in this situation please let us know as soon as possible so that we can take steps to help you.
We cannot do prescriptions immediately and you may be asked to return later.
If you are frequently late ordering prescriptions you will receive a letter from us as late ordering causes inconvenience to yourself, our staff, the GPs and the chemist.
If you run out of medication and we are closed please contact your chemist. They may discuss the possibility of supplying up to 3 days emergency supply but this varies from chemist to chemist and is dependent upon the type of medication you are requesting.
We try our best to help as everyone's circumstances are different we will need to decide what is the best course of action at the time.
Unfortunately, we are unable to fax prescriptions for repeat medication.
We now have a service to enable you to order your regular repeat medication on line.
You will need to register for this service. On our website www.springfieldmedical.co.uk and scroll down to the bottom of our home page.
You will see a number of "Online services". Select "Repeat Prescriptions" which will open in a new window. If you are registered to use this service you can order your medication by logging on with your secure passwords. If you have not registered you will need to visit the surgery to obtain a registration form, instructions and your unique access codes. By using this service you will be agreeing to our terms and conditions and we will hold your email address on our computer data base which will be kept confidentially by our practice and not given to any other organisation.
Please be aware that we cannot guarantee the security of using an email service that is outside of the NHS secure website.
You can also arrange for a local chemist to collect and deliver your medication. Telephone the chemist of your choice and let them know you have ordered a prescription and when it will be ready for them to collect.
